Evening Lab: How to write place and setting
Capturing place and setting in your writing is essential for helping the reader enter and inhabit the world you have created. But it's not simply about painting a picture and creating mood and atmosphere: the way a place is captured can work hard to give clues about a character's emotions and their view of the world. In this hour-long masterclass, author and academic Lily Dunn will be demonstrating how hard a text can work in projecting character and mood through carefully chosen detail. This is a masterclass that will be relevant for writers of fiction and nonfiction / memoir. There will be texts to read, reflections and writing exercises for everyone to take part in.
